Taking a break

by Yen posted February 1, 2007 category C’est la vie

I’m off to Paris tomorrow till Monday and I still haven’t finish packing yet! Have been searching for infos and the compulsory touristy thing to do there and I’m flooded with infos from the internet. Paris…Paris.. a city that never sleeps.. a city of blinding lights. My colleagues were a little surprised when I told them that I have not yet been to Paris after staying here for quite some time and the France border is literally just an hour drive away from where I’m staying. For your information, France is just next to Germany and I’m staying near the border of France-Germany. Some colleagues were kidding that they were planning to drive over to Paris for breakfast before heading to work. Actually it’s really not that near lor. I’ll be taking an express train and the journey will take around 4hrs..hmm don’t know what to do in the train. I think I’ll sleep my way till I arrive hehehe.

Anyway where was I? Oh ya, while I was googling I came across this article about Paris Syndrome. If you are lazy to click the link, let me explain it here. It’s a syndrome suffered mostly by Japanese tourists after visiting Paris because the metropolitan is not what they have expected to be! Some of the tourists needed psychological treatment because the real Paris is so contradictory to what they have imagined Paris to be like all this while. I am Blinking speechless…I thought it’s normal that sometimes after visiting a place, you realized that the your dream place is merely an illusion which you build up inside your mind. However it’s up to ourselves to perceive the many sides of reality, whether you choose to see things the beautiful way or vice versa.

So for this trip I choose to see the positive side of Paris (hopefully Winking 4).

Hmm..although I heard quite often that the streets of Paris are sometimes littered with dogs’ poo. Anyway I’ll stick to my perception (unless I’m that fortunate to step on one!). So take care ya folks Winking 2!
