Bonjour

Paris Day 1

Paris is a metropolitan so overfilled with people and tourists and expensive to live in! The first thing when we arrived at our hotel we asked for the map of Paris because you’ll definitely need a map for your orientation.

The main medium of transportation here is the Metro (underground tram). Guess what, I finally experienced the first time what’s like to be packed like a sardine in a Metro (really just like the famous tube in Tokyo during peak hours). I could smell the breath of the guy next to me! Eww!! I can’t imagine how it’s like when it’s all stuffy and hot in summer and packed in a Metro next to some sweaty passengers and breathing the not so pleasant smell. Oh gosh, I can’t even bear just the thought of it! Thank goodness I’m not staying in such a city. They even have a transrapide underground just like in airport! Look at the amount of people during rush hours.

Paris’s Metro is really efficient and punctual. I spent more time on transiting (walking to my next tram) than waiting for the tram to arrive. And you gotta have a good pair of shoes to walk up and down the flights of stairs while transiting.

Our first destination that day was Place Charles De Gaulle with its famous Arc De Triomphe. One thing while travelling is you have to spend quite an amount on entrance fee to museums, churches or monuments!

This monument was erected during the era of Napoleon to celebrate the victory of the French army during the French revolution. We went up the building and the view up there is supposed to be fantastic but because it was foggy that day, everywhere we looked was greyish Sad. Here’s a view of the famous Avenue des Champs Elysees where all the shops for the big brands are located.

This monument nowadays serves as a roundabout and I noticed that people drive like crazy in Paris. You gotta have good nerves while driving here just like in this picture..hehehe.

Then we headed to the famous Musee Du Louvre. We didn’t enter the museum on the first day since it was evening. The renowned pyramid from the Da Vinci Code Winking 2 greeted me as I entered its compound.

La Pyramide close up. Look at the queue..

Cheese …

Here’s a panorama picture of the area around the pyramid.

I was dead tired later in the evening that we just headed back to our hotel and get a good night sleep for tomorrow. More to come but I gotta get ready for my presentation tomorrow. *Fingers crossed* that everything goes well.
