My first
Apr 22, 2007 in That's life!
For as long as I can remember, I have never attended a church service. I’m not a Christian. I guess that explains it all. I’ve been to churches before, as a tourist most of the time and never was one of those who sat on the pews. However I attended a church service for the first time in my life. I’m not converting to Christianity, if that’s who you’re thinking
.
Thorsten’s nephew is celebrating his first communion and the whole family is invited to celebrate this occasion. That’s why I was dragged along to attend the church service in the morning, lunch in the afternoon and then high tea later in the evening. I’m so full now that I have a feeling that I’m going to burst anytime.
Here are some photos taken for the day. Before the church service was started, fooling around with Thorsten’s camera. He was too shy to look directly at the camera.
People spilling out of the church after the service.

Lukas the communion child. Ain’t he cute in that small little coat

Later on we adjourned to have lunch at a restaurant. They served the best dessert I’ve ever eaten. Unfortunately I didn’t take any picture of the dessert because everyone was busy devouring the dessert. Here are some pictures taken at the restaurant. I was busy admiring the table decoration. There was sort of a name tag for everyone used as a sitting arrangement.
Before that we had a toast to Lukas for his first communion. And there was sparkling wine for everyone. The scroll with the name tag on it was the menu, creative right? The food was really great! I rarely praise German food because IMO there was usually too much meat served and the food was either too bland or too salty. However the food served in that restaurant was really superb!
After lunch we decided to go out and have some fresh air to aid digestion!
Back at his sister house after lunch…we have another round of makan again. This time is cake, cake and cake! All of them homemade! Here in Germany, people will rather bake their own cake than buy at the bakery. I think one of the reason why, is because it is REALLY expensive to buy a cake here. Furthermore it is more delicious to bake it your own
.
Now you see why I can’t eat anymore for dinner.
So have a nice week ahead!
