What do you prefer?

I attended my twice a week theory driving lesson yesterday. I was asking my instructor when can I take the test and I was totally caught off guard when he suddenly asked me:

Instructor: Wann werden Sie 18? (When do you turn 18?)
Me: ???? Err…

Then I told him my actual age and we both laughed out loud. Actually it is quite common here that Europeans can’t quite estimate the age of Asian girls. I have had a few experiences here that I was being mistaken to be younger than I actually was. Like being checked for my age when buying alcohol etc. However, being mistaken to be 18 was my first!!

I don’t know whether I should feel flattered or should I start to do something about my appearance (as in dressing)? Well, I was wearing jeans and a small t-shirt. I don’t mind being mistaken to be a few years younger than I actually am but not as young as 18!

I’m going to watch Spiderman 3 tomorrow. I was considering whether to watch it in German or in its original version. However I like Spiderman 1 & 2 and I don’t think I would wanna watch it in German (to the horror of my colleagues as they were asking me to watch with them in German!). How I wish I can get off with being under 18 now, as I can get cheaper student tickets for the movie! Fat chance…
