Wine & bubble water

I’m staying in a country where wine drinking is like bread and butter of everyday life. Particularly in the region or in German we called it the Bundesland where I’m staying which is Rheinland Pfalz, the folks are especially proud of their locally produced wine. So on Saturday we decided to brave ourselves against the cold and drag my lazy butt to visit the wine festival called Dürkheimer Weinfest (literally translated to Dürkheim’s Wine Festival) which is held annually in Bad Dürkheim.

It’s almost similar to the beer festival Oktoberfest in Bavaria. However here in the Dürkheimer Weinfest instead of beer, wine (red and white) with bubble water is served in the size of a pint. So for me, who’s absolutely not a wine drinker but I do drink one or two sip occasionally, a pint of wine at one go is a little too much, even though it’s mixed with bubble water. ;)

However it’s no doubt a fun experience. You know, after one or two pints of wine, spirits run high, laughter becomes contagious and no doubt you’ll see some funny happenings, like people vomiting (no, I don’t think this is a funny sight), or some just couldn’t walk in a straight line anymore, or others just laugh at a wine glass without any reasons as if the wine glass has turned into Homer Simpson. :D

Us . You don’t just find them wearing leather pants anywhere because it’s a typical attire for men at the Oktoberfest.

Some heartshapes gingerbread for you ;) .Another very common sight in this kind of festival. They come in different sizes and you can find different messages written on the gingerbread like ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m the greatest girlfriend in the world’.

So if you ever visit Germany, it’s really a must to attend Oktoberfest or any other Wine Festival :) which is just so typical German.
