I smell fish

Marseille is really a heaven for seafood lover, like me. I think my cholesterol level has shot up a few notches for the past few days during my stay there because I ate pots and pots of mussels like there is no tomorrow. OK, I exaggerated. I was only having mussels every other day ;) . The mussels were huge and succulent and you can find them cooked in different kind of flavors and I can only recommend them!

There’s a fish market located directly at the Vieux Port at the Quai del Belge where the fishermen sell their catch of the day directly after coming back from the sea. I could catch the fishy smell all the way back at the subway station while walking towards the port.

I was gawking at the amount of fish sold there which were so fresh and fleshy. How I wish we have these kind of fish market back at where I stay in Germany. Such wishful thinking. You can even find snails here, alive and moving and I ate snails for dinner for the very first time in my life! It tasted like…like…like….snail? The texture was a little rough, sort of like chewing gum but not that elastic.

Here’s my fish pictures set.
