It is Saint Nicholas Day

I think every child in Europe looks forward to the 6th of December every year because it is on this day that they receive goodies and gifts from the Saint Nicholas also known as the bringer of gifts.
That is how we come upon Santa Claus who brings gifts to children and check on them whether they’ve been good all this while because Santa Claus is derived from this Saint Nicholas legend.
My friends told me that their children love to celebrate Nikolaustag. They will put boots at the front door or hang socks at the fireplace and put some gifts inside those boots/socks to surprise their children that Saint Nicholas arrived in the middle of the night and brought them gifts! And I thought it was Santa Claus all this while.
I didn’t know this. Lucky kids…
