Goodbye 2007, Welcome 2008

There is still about one and a half day before the year 2007 comes to an end. Have you achieved what you have set out to accomplish this year? Those resolutions that you’ve listed out in detail. If you have achieved HALF of your resolutions, I salute you. If not, you still have about 36hours to go :) .

As for me, 2007 holds some significant turning point in my life. It marks the 5 year anniversary of my stay in Germany. Bidding farewell to my friends that came together with me to this foreign land was harder than I imagined. The bond that has developed between us has never felt so strong at the time of saying goodbye.

It is only early this year that I have graduated and stepped into the working world. It feels good holding my first paycheck in my hand and it feels great spending my own money ;) . No bad conscience. No answering to anyone on what you do with your own hard earned money. With it comes the need to be independent and not to be chauffeured around anymore. So I decided to get a driving license.

I spent my first Chinese New Year at home with my family after missing it for about 5 years. It has never felt so good to be home again especially at the most festive time of the year. It sort of pulled me back to the reality that my grandparents have aged a lot since I’ve last seen them. They are way past 80s and thank goodness still in the pink of health aside from some rusty joints problems. Hopefully they will have a lot more years ahead of them. *fingers crossed*

During my stay back home, I met up with my high school friends and I love catching up with them! They are still so great to be with, and they are still the same in a way that I can remember them. So when is our next gathering? When are you people coming to visit me in Germany arh? My neck is growing an inch longer every year already ;) . I am coming back again in 2008, so hopefully can meet up again yah.

Got myself a DSLR camera at a super bargain price. I’m still very new in DSLR photography, still learning and improving my technique. I’m saving up now for a Nikon wide angle lens that I was swooning over.

As for my travel itinerary this year, I’d say it has been very French for me ;) . Finally I’ve been to Paris. It was the first destination for every Malaysian that first arrived in Europe. I wonder what was ‘the thing’ with Paris that makes it so attractive eh? Later in summer, we had a superb holiday at the South of France and had nicest holiday to date. That should be enough of some French fare for us now.

Overall 2007 has been a good year to me. I can never be thankful enough for meeting some great people along the way that helped me to be where I am today.

I am looking forward to 2008 now. My resolutions for next year? I hope to live my life richer and fuller. Life is too short to just pour all your time in work. I plan to take up scuba diving. I plan to travel to another country this year. A place where I haven’t been to yet.

Have you drawn up your resolutions yet? :)
Happy New Year 2008 everyone. May you have a blessed and joyful year ahead! *Love and Hugs*
