Being in the comfort zone
Feb 12, 2008 in All things me
My boyfriend asked me last week, out of the blue, whether I have any plans this coming Thursday. Uhmm..I had this funny look on my face, wondering what he meant. Besides my dental appointment, nothing else. He suggested maybe we could do something together. Uhmm..I had this funny look on my face again, wondering what he meant. What is the special occasion on this Thursday?
Then it occurred to me that it’s Valentine’s Day and oh ya..it’s Chin’s birthday too
! Honestly my boyfriend is not the romantic type. So it touches me a little, not to mention I was a little taken by surprise, that he’s taking the initiative to do something special on Valentine’s Day.
I know he’s not the kind who’d splurge on bouquets of flowers. I’d rather he gives me the money and I buy something for myself that I really find worth the money
. Yep, I’m that realistic. I do like flowers, but it’s just that I think the money used for buying flowers can be used for buying something more long lasting. Ermm…by long lasting, I didn’t mean plastic flowers ok.
Being in a relationship this long, I think we are on the verge of getting too comfortable with each other, which in my opinion, is quite a relationship-killer-factor. We see each other on a daily basis and sooner or later, the sparks that were so brilliantly lighted a few years ago when we started dating get to loose its brightness.
It’s time to put back some sparkle into this relationship again. A couple is never too old to start dating again. We are not even married yet but way past the dating stage. So what do you call this in-between world? The undefined world of being in a domestic partnership? Duh..it sounds so not nice.
I think I’d waddle out a little of this comfort zone and start rekindling the fire that has simmered down. Uhmm…with that said, I still have no ideas on what to do this coming Thursday. Any ideas anyone?

hehe … enjoy your valentines..
Ee chin, Happy BdaY to you…
Happy Valentine’s Day! And thanks for remembering my birthday. See, Thorsten is learning how to be romantic. You lucky girl!! Have fun….
