Change of season

The days are getting longer and the temperatures are rising ever so slowly. And do you know what this means? For me this means that it is time to:

  • pack away my winter boots into the shoe cupboard and it’s time for some sandals and flats! I love wearing flats by the way.
  • send my winter jackets to the laundry and pull out my jeans jackets. You know sometimes it’s a little annoying because the temperature in the morning is not high enough for you to go out without a jacket but it is not so cold for winter jackets. So what do you call this jacket? Some sort of a winter-to-spring-transition-jacket?
  • change my comforter for a thinner one. Yea, I have two comforters, a thicker comforter for winter use and a thinner for the rest of the three seasons. I don’t have a fan or an air conditioner here, so a thick comforter is a sure way of getting heat stroke during summer!
  • store away my pullovers, thick socks and long sleeves, gloves etc!
  • look out for spring/summer trends :P . I need something new for the coming of every new seasons like for the past fall. White is absolutely ‘in’ this spring and summer! Oh…I just checked my shoe cupboard that I don’t really have any white shoes or flats, so you know what this means ;) .
  • change car tires. I don’t do this myself but Thorsten will have to do all the hard work :P . Most of the cars use different sets of tires for winter and for the rest of the three seasons because it is absolutely disastrous driving around with sets of tires meant for summer in winter when there is snow on the road.
  • check out my supply of sun cream. Although I still use sun cream in winter however only on my face.
  • make sure I still have ample supply of face cream. It is due to the fact that the air won’t be as dry in spring/summer as winter, so I tend to use different creams with less oil content for the warmer days. I do have very dry skin.
  • start planting vegies in the garden! The Germans have a habit of growing salads and vegetables like tomatoes, chillies and paprikas in their own gardens. You can really notice the difference between home-grown vegetables from those you find in the supermarket. They taste so much more like real vegetables than those vegies grown in greenhouse. Thorsten’s mum gave me a tomato plant for my balcony. Let’s see whether it’ll survive under my care ;) .

I hope that I’m not missing anything else. Have a nice weekend everyone! The sun is out for the weekend here. WOOT!

  1. Hello Ladybird!

I can’t agree with you more on all the points mentioned, especially the agony of a climate that’s blowing hot and cold, but no clothing good for in between! Fortunately, my side is sort of tiding over… =D
I wish you & Thorsten a lovely Spring and lotsa juicy tomatoes!! =D

  2. P/S : I’ve always loved your images in the maze… Absolutely gorgeous pictures. =)

  3. Hi Stardust, thank you very much :)
