Edible goodies from the garden

I can’t wait for them to grow up. Some of them are about 6cm tall now and if the weather stays fine throughout the summer, we’ll be having plenty of fresh red chillies from the garden by the end of summer or early autumn!
The photo below shows the baby tomato plants. This time round, T’s mum decided to plant them in big pots. We had problems with our tomato plants last summer mostly due to the crappy summer weather then. They were planted on the ground and I think the location wasn’t that ideal either due to lack of adequate sunshine.
According to her, tomato plants need ample sunshine and water in order to thrive. So now that they are planted in pots, we can move them around when necessary. We’ll see whether planting them in pots will render some fleshy and succulent tomatoes
.
There’s a fresh pot of basil plant too! I’ve had my share of experiences for basil plants for the past few years. They either wrinkle up on me too early or drowned in some over-watered pot.
I really gotta learn how to properly water potted plants. They might appear that they are drying up and I’m always fooled to believing that they are always in need of some generous amount of water. That’s why I tend to drown my plants
.

Last year our cherry tomatoes were infected by an unknown decease, so we lost most of them. I hope you get to enjoy lots of garden tomatoes this year.
Hi,
Don’t you have green-fingers too. I love the photos of the green sprouts. Love fresh green. Ahh… I’ve bought some basil seeds that I intended to plant but I procrastinated the matter till now. Do you think it’s too late already? Will I get my leaves before autumn comes? I’ll be looking forward to see your plentiful harvest! =D
Hi Bee Ean, thank you! I’m sorry to hear about you cherry tomatoes. Tomato plants can be quite prone to diseases.
Hi Stardust, I don’t think that it’s ever too late to plant something. The basil seeds will peek out from the soil in no time if you keep them well watered. They can grow up fast if they receive plenty of sunlight and water (but not over-watering them
). I hope you’ll be able to harvest your leaves before autumn!
