A wonderful Saturday

I’ve invited some friends over for BBQ on Saturday to celebrate a good friend’s birthday. It’s been awhile since my last session of BBQ with friends. Each time come spring/summer, I have a feeling that BBQ is a must-do activity for the Germans. ![]()
So we’ve decided, barbeque it is this time for us
. Maybe it’s because of the outdoor elements, great company, superb weather, that’s the way to enjoy the spring/summer. It was enjoyable and the weather played along too. It wasn’t too hot nor too sunny. There were a few thick clouds on the sky, threatening to dampen our mood anytime with a downpour but luckily for us it didn’t rain neither was it cold. A perfect set up for BBQ.
The birthday girl got some loving kisses and Ferrero chocolates from BH and C.
This lucky girl received some more loving kisses from me and T. She couldn’t help giggling and me too
. It struck me as such a coincident that T and me had the same postures while BH and C both had a different postures from us but the same as each other while trying to kiss the birthday girl.
Half way through eating, we realized that we’ve totally forgotten the pita bread that was supposed to be eaten together with the meat. So, due to lack of space, we just placed the bread on the meat and they tasted surprisingly good laced with some marinate rubbed off from the meat below.
Tada, in the end our barbeque plate was so overstuffed with bread, meat, sausages, chicken wings, absolutely space optimized. No wonder we had some half-cooked chicken wings later
. We chatted, laughed at the messages from our fortune cookies that BH bought, played darts and sipped on juicy watermelons. It was all fun. Must have get-togethers more often.
A birthday won’t end without a birthday cake. We indulged in the delish of the zebra cake from T’s mum. It tasted a little like marble cake but the whole cake is oil-based and furthermore the interior of the cake is formed like the stripes of a zebra. We were all so full and I guess my digestive system was completely stretched to the max that day.
By the end of the evening, I was dead tired and physically exhausted from running around and doing some last-minute grocery shopping, to cleaning the kitchen in the evening.
I was nevertheless contented and happy.

The BBQ meat looks so good! Or is it your photos? =P I get what you mean by the ‘ kissing posture ‘, couple gets to resemble each other with time, huh? ;P
The zebra cake looks so ‘ zebra ‘! It even has a coating on top, interesting!
Stardust, I think my photos of the meat look a little too dark and couldn’t really bring out the color of the meat, don’t you think?
Hmm… too dark? I’m not sure cos I fail to see the true color of the meat, but it sure looks VERY appetizing to me! I was about to ask you how to get it marinated. Hehhehe… =D
That’s what I’m thinking too, the color of the meat looks so strange to me now
.
We just bought those from the butcher, already marinated
.
It is the same in France, during summer BBQ is a must for people who have garden. Maybe you can try prepare some satay next time?
Oh ya! Bee Ean, how can I have forgotten about satay?!
Thanks for reminding, will keep that in mind for the next round of BBQ
