I was thinking before I leave for home tomorrow, I’d leave you all with something to ponder about, just in case you miss me too much

There live some dwarfs in a dark cave. Almost half of them wear red hats and the other half have green hats on. No one knows the exact amount of the dwarfs or the amount of those wearing red or green hats. The dwarfs themselves don’t even know which is the color of their own hat. They can’t see what color the other is wearing in the dark.
One fine day, the dwarfs are allowed to go out of the cave one by one and they are to arrange themselves outside the cave according to the color of the hats that they are wearing. Those wearing red hats are to line up on the right and those wearing green hats on the left. They are not allowed to speak with each other nor give hand signals to each other and are not allowed to line up with those wearing different color from themselves. Using of any other aids like mirrors or taking off their hats are not allowed too.
How are they suppose to arrange themselves according to the color of their hats in this case?
