The gang
Jun 29, 2008 in All things me
I browsed through my high school photo albums recently and I couldn’t help feeling a pang of nostalgia. I think each one of us used to have a ’sense of belonging’ to a certain ‘gang’ during high school.
I’ve compiled a scrapbook-like photo album back then to keep all my high school pictures. It always brings back happy memories browsing through the pages.
These are the people with whom I grew up together and they are the ones with whom I can identify part of myself. They are the ones with whom I shared my secret crushes and the ones with whom I laughed and shed tears.
Our group was known as one of the noisiest in the school and ironically, one with the highest numbers of prefects in class. We used to get complaints from the school principal as her office was just below our classroom.
I think we were the ones who broke the school rules most often by conversing in our mother tongue all the day amongst ourselves although we were supposed to uphold the school rules by ’setting examples’ of speaking only English or Malay. *cough*
There was this trip to Port Dickson where we all shared a room and had our first ’sleep over’ together. I think we talked and laughed and took pictures that we’ve almost forgotten to sleep at all. I still keep in touch with some of them but sadly I’ve lost contact with the other half of those in my class. I really hope to be able to catch up with everyone of them one day.
Above all, I like this picture the best. We were so care free, innocent, happy and free of any worries. Ah, I miss those days.

Wow, in your last photo, you guys almost had the same hair style. I see conformity in our school system. So different from the student in France who dress differently and have different haircut.
haha..those were the days in RPS…i smiled as i look though those photos…we used to stick together wherever we go…when i think about it, we were actually had fun and happy, easy going during secondary school…lot’s of funny and silly act memories flowing in my mind now…
Well done with the pics, Yen! Love them to bits! Do u mind sharing the softcopies of them with me? (my hardcopies are unfortunately fast-fading!)
It was a great get-together last night. I think everyone of us had a good laugh and reveled in each other’s lameness (it undeniably exists in all of us). if only we could do that more often…
Bee Ean, it was actually accidental that everyone had sort of the same haircut…hehehe. In Germany too the school children can dress differently and even wear make up to school.
Jaina, Voon, yea I wish we could get together more often…
got the pics…thanks a bunch!
Oh god…Look at us when we were 16 or 17. Those were the good, old times…
