Skybridge
Aug 6, 2008 in Going places
If you are not lucky enough to work at an office on one of the many floors of the Petronas Twin Towers, then going up to the Skybridge is the only way to have a bird’s eye view of KL, FREE OF CHARGE. Going up to the Skybrigde was actually on our agenda during our Malaysian trip back in 2006, however we were a day too early back then because the bridge is open for visiting throughout the whole week except on Mondays and we went there on a Monday. Duh.
So, we were well-informed this time round and went on a Tuesday instead
. The amount of visitors is limited to ca. 1600 daily. Tickets are only available for that particular day and it can’t be obtained in advance. I’ve heard from friends about people queuing for tickets as early as 6 or 7am! I thought they were kidding me.
We arrived there around 8.30am, still thinking we were early because it was a weekday and totally forgotten that tourists don’t work on a weekday, we were really taken by surprise that there were indeed A LOT of people queuing up for tickets. I should have taken a picture of the amount of people in the queue.
Here’s roughly a sketch of how my queue looked like when we arrived. I thought we were never going to make it up to the Skybridge that day again because we had a bus to catch at 1.30 in the afternoon!
Almost 95% of the people queuing were foreigners. There was this guy, whose duty was to walk around and ask those people in the queue their country of origin and he was surprised that there was finally a Malaysian in the queue. Jeez…I so felt like a tourist. The queue moved on quite fast, but not fast enough for someone who’s as impatient as me.
We finally reached the ticket counter an hour later
. As I looked down from the 42nd floor of the towers, I realized that I’ve never had a bird’s eye view of KL skyline before.
This view above is overlooking the KLCC park below. Isn’t it beautiful? All these skyscrapers looked so crowded to me, making the tiny KLCC park above slightly more significant for a breather.
The other side of the bridge looks less interesting though with everything all cramped together at the horizon.
I couldn’t resist taking a picture of us together. We spent just some short 5-10mins on the bridge in exchange for one hour of queuing for the tickets. Do you think it’s worth it?
To me, the view from the bridge was worth the waiting.
Oh, if you plan to go up to the Skybridge, take my advice and go early to avoid disappointment
.

Oh, those pictures were breathtakingly beautiful. I have a sudden urge to show off to my coworkers about some of the nice places in Malaysia. Do you mind if I save them for my own collection?
Did you just went back to M’sia????
I’m quite surprised that there’s alot of tourist are interested going up the skybridge.
I myself never been KL tower also… What a M’sian am I?
Chin, thank you
. Sure you can save them, but they are a little sized down, I’ll update some higher resolutions to my photo album this weekend. Check back then
.
Loo Loo, hey long time no hear! Yea, I went back home last month.
Jaina, hehehe..ya lor, I saw mostly ‘gwai lo’ there. I can understand you, why not make a resolution to go to the Skybridge or KL Tower in the coming months
?
Yes, darling yes! It’s definitely worth the queue! Awesome! Thanks for sharing the view so unselfishly. I’m glad that I can catch a glimpse without the awful queueing. ;P Uh huh, your illustration is so cute, I laughed myself jelly. You’re such a cutie!
Stardust, you’re very welcome
