Bird park in Haßloch
What do you usually do on a bright, beautiful, warm Saturday afternoon? Shopping? Gardening? Chilling out at a café? As for me, nothing gives me more of a thrill than to go cycling on my bike along the countryside, drinking in the beauty and the serenity of mother nature. The feeling is almost as high as going on a shopping spree during sales.
We cycled the other day to the bird park in Haßloch, located about 8km from our place. I have never been to a bird park before, so I didn’t know what to expect. The park is run by volunteers and bird enthusiasts and they don’t charge any entrance fees, donations are however more than welcome.
The first thing that attracted my attention was its location. The whole park is situated at the fringe of a forest, I think making the birds to feel as homey as possible here.
I don’t think that they feel at home. It is sort of sad seeing this beautiful creatures in the cage, no matter how big the cage is. My favorites are these colorful, tiny birds. I don’t know what their names are, I don’t think those above are parrots.
I love these two birds above. I’ve been watching them closely and they seemed to be courting each other and dancing around the cage, chasing each other. Mating season is near?
Finally, a kiss
? The blue one below is beautiful too.
My favorite picture is this one below. Those yellow and orange birds are so CUTE and fluffy!
They seemed to be unperturbed by the visitors strolling by. Maybe they are used to being marveled at, being locked up for so long. I think they really don’t belong in a cage.
Sniff, hugs… I resonate with your post so well!
First, parrots of this size are called ‘ lovebirds ‘, in some languages, ‘ Inseperables ‘. I love these a plenty lot, for their endearing display of affection. Love that pict that caught them kissing.
It is very sad indeed to see them behind cages. I agree with you that no animals should be caged for selfish admiration. They’re not even pets, not doted on, and given meagre food to keep alive. Those wings are not given for flight within the caged compound. So sad.
