Conversations with mom

Mom: You know the other day your distant uncle called. He invited us to your cousin sister’s wedding in November.

Me: Oh..uh huh. (silently cringing inwardly at the direction of this conversation)

Mom: You still remember your cousin right? I think she’s two years younger than you right?

Me: Think so. (wondering how to change the topic)

Mom: Time flies huh. So fast they are getting married already. Oh, you know arh, your other cousin sister is going to have a child soon. I think she’ll probably give birth this month.

Me: Oh..I see. That’s great! (fingers drumming)

Mom: Yea, and she just got married last year. So fast.

Me: Yea, good for them. (I’ll have to hang up the phone soon..)

Mom: The other day I bumped into an old friend. She told me her daughter got married to a Briton last year. And she gave birth to twins!

Me: Oh..I see. That’s nice. (not again..)

Mom: Oh, you still remember my colleague’s daughter? The one you met before last time while you were still young.

Me: Hmmm…who? (pretending not to remember)

Mom: The one who went together with us on our trip to New Zealand. She’s going to marry an American and she’s going to move to the USA.

Me: Oh, yeah, that girl. I remember her. (actually I’ve known who she’s talking about)

Mom: Why is everyone choosing foreigners as husband nowadays arh?

I can hear her curiosity burns behind every word she said, wondering when her daughter is finally going to tie the knot :) .
