Loving The Office
I’m so into the US TV series The Office nowadays, once again influenced by my boyfriend. The series is actually an adaptation from the original UK series. I’ve watched the first episode of both versions and their plots were more or less similar and I love the US version the most. There are actually many more versions of The Office around the world. There’s even a similar version here in Germany, although I haven’t watched it before.
I was actually quite reluctant to start watching the series in the first place. Perhaps I prefer not to be reminded of work even during my spare time. I know it sounds silly actually, you can’t actually compare a sitcom with real life right? But hey, the office sounds really like the office, right
?
But after much persuasion from my boyfriend, I decided to give it a try because I like Steve Carell
. He plays the slightly neurotic but mostly cringe-inducing regional manager of a paper company, Michael Scott, who drinks his coffee out of his cup that says ‘World’s Best Boss’. Sometimes I do really wonder, whether this kind of people really exist and make a mental note myself to be thankful that I don’t have a boss like this
.
Here are some of my favorite quotable quotes from the very Michael Scott.
“I don’t understand. We have a day honoring Martin Luther King, but he didn’t even work here.“
“I love inside jokes. I’d love to be a part of one someday.“
“You may look around and see two groups here; white collar, blue collar. But I don’t see it that way, and you know why not? Because I am collar-blind.”
“The most sacred thing I do is care. And provide for my workers, my family. I give them money. I give them food. Not directly, but through the money. I heal them. Today I am in charge of picking a great new healthcare plan. Right, that’s what this is all about. Does that make me their doctor? Um… yes. In a way. Yeah, like a specialist.“
