Incident at a shoe shop

by Yen posted November 24, 2008 category C’est la vie

I am desperately in need of a pair of new winter boots for daily wear because my other pairs of boots aren’t that suitable as office attire. So while browsing through rows and rows of winter boots yesterday, trying on some and walking around to see whether it fits, I suddenly recalled an incident I had while shopping for a pair of open-toed sandals back in Malaysia.

While trying on a pair of sandals, I noticed that one shoe (the one on my left foot) is bigger than the one on my right foot. So I told the salesgirl about this and she had the cheek to say ‘你有大小脚吧? (Perhaps one of your foot is bigger than the other?)

Err…I know that no one human body is perfectly symmetrical, however my feet aren’t that asymmetrical that I need different shoe sizes for my feet! I couldn’t believe she said that to a customer. If she were to be in Germany, she’ll come under fire by her superior for insulting customers.

Realizing the obvious imbalance of both shoes, she checked again their sizes. Hah! I had the oh so enormous satisfaction to know that I was right. The shoes were of different sizes.

  1. What a coincidence! I am looking high and low for a decently priced pair of boots too. But its quite impossible in Italy *sob*. Would there be any brands that you’d recommend?

  2. whimsicaljottings, I got mine from a local brand called Deichmann. Their shoes are normally quite reasonably priced. After googling at their site, they unfortunaley don’t have many branches in Italy yet. Or else I like MANGO or ZARA too although sometimes they aren’t that comfortable to wear, look out for their sales..their boots are super cheap then.

But hey..I’m sure you can find some Italian brands and Italian fashion which must be way better right ;) ?

  3. There ARE many Italian brands, but their prices… KILLER! Like RM1200 thereabouts. :(

  4. whimsicaljottings, 1200Euros??!! Hmm…I’m sure they have some which are cheaper rite?
