A lovely night out

It’s been ages since I’ve been to a musical. My last visit to a theater was like two years ago in Vienna. So while I was in Munich a week ago, I decided to definitely visit the Deutsches Theater if my schedule allows because I absolutely LOVE musicals!
Unlike in cinema, it is a totally different experience to see the actors performing life on stage! We were lucky enough to still be able to get some last minute tickets for the classical piece ‘My Fair Lady’ for 68Euros (ouch!). If you really want to enjoy yourself at a play, you might as well make sure you’ll have the best seat possible, right?
I was sitting at the fourth row from the stage and I had a fantastic view of the stage and the actors! In Germany, the plays/musicals are mostly conducted in German, so it might sound a little strange at first to have a classic piece like this to be played in German.
However I’m already used to watching Jackie Chan speaks German (his voice was dubbed) on TV here, so I’ll make do with the Berlin accent by Eliza Doolittle instead of the original Cockney accent used in the English version.
I had a little self-doubt at first, thinking that my German was not up to it in order to understand the whole play due to the accent and all. But my doubt was baseless because Berlinerisch isn’t that difficult to catch after all
and the whole play was a hugely enjoyable affair.
The acting was brilliant and the musical performance of the whole ensemble was absolutely superb. It is worth to just watch the dancing and listen to the music alone. I didn’t realized that Prof. Higgins, the phonetic expert played by Daniel Morgenroth, is rather attractive
. The sparks of chemistry that flew between Eliza and him on stage (the last picture) is not to be missed.
What amazed me most is the beautiful singing voices of the cast, such powerful and strong vocals..ah…it was simpley a lovely night.

Hhhm…Quite ex ya. The last and the only theater show I went was Phantom of the Opera at Esplanade last year. But, my tic was very cheap. So, I had to use a bino actually. Wahahahaha…
Lee Wah, good seats are unfortunately more expensive. There are cheaper tickets too, about 30Euros, but I might have to use a bino too, which I don’t have
.
