The underwater world
I went scuba-diving and was immensely touched by the sublime beauty of the underwater world. I learned the art of camouflaging is no easy work. Sometimes I do wonder myself, how do these creatures find out how they look like themselves in order to find an environment to disguise themselves?
I mean, there sure aren’t any mirrors in the middle of the ocean, although, well, from a sunken ship maybe. But they must have some degree of intelligence in order to choose a suitable surrounding to blend in, right?
However I think every living creature possesses an iota of survival instinct which explains why they do what they do to protect themselves. I wonder whether that prawn is edible
. You know, prawns do not come cheap in Germany, but those long laser-like tentacles look rather ‘poisonous’ to me.
Among all the sea creatures, I like the sea stars the most because they look like a star and they don’t switfly swim away when human approaches! This fleshy, succulent sea star was moving it’s arms in a rather restricted kind of way (probably because it doesn’t have very long arms) , making small movements up and down.
Aside from marveling at these pretty, colorful fish, I absolutely adore those lovely, intricately designed corals! I wonder how they would feel, would it be slippery and slimy to the touch?
There’s Nemo!
..and friend?!
..and its brooding-looking long-lost cousin? Nah..the difference is too great for them to be even considered that they are related.
Lunch anyone? I thought he was considering to prey on another pretty fish but luckily he gave up.
Actually, I was just kidding (sorry
). The last time I tried out scuba-diving, I almost vomited my stomach out because I think I was überoxygenated. Too much concentrated oxygen ain’t good for my tummy.
Furthermore, I don’t have a camera fit to go underwater to take pictures! These pictures were taken during my visit to the zoo in Stuttgart! More on that later. Have a nice weekend everyone!
lovely photos! i was very impressed you got such great shots–they look much like the aquarium here in our city!
i am actually a member at our aquarium and love to go and look at all the amazing sea life God has created! it’s magnificent, and He sure did a great job of making them blend in with their environments! one of my very favorite creatures is the Leafy Sea Dragon–so elegant and graceful and looks just like the sea weed in which it lives!
sharilyn, thank you
. Yes, I like the Leafy Sea Dragon too! Very delicate and lovely creatures!
K.Y., what amazing pictures you’ve captured from the underworld! I’m all blown away!
Okee, on account of what beautiful piece you’ve shared, I’ll excuse your tale of scuba-diving. =P
Stardust, thank you!
