The warped glasses

by Yen posted March 22, 2009 category All things me, Life in Germany

I’ve been wearing this pair of rimless glasses for like 8 years, although on and off with contacts. So it’s rather understandable when signs of wear and tear started to show their presence. Warped glassesI’ve sort of grew tired of tightening the minuscule screws (that hold the whole frame together) every now and then, so I decided to visit the local optician to have the work done professionally.

After explaining my dilemma to the optician, she nodded emphatically and disappeared into another room. She came back after sometime, bringing my glasses back, with only a slight improvement to the lose frames, to which I promptly pointed out.

She exclaimed that she has never seen the technology or the unusual way used to hold my glasses together, saying that it is rather different from here (in Germany), rendering her clueless on how to tighten the screws.

Hearing this, my bf had to laugh out loud, while I was thinking, my God, is Malaysia way too advance in its glasses-making technology, or simply slacking behind, or is it only that I’ve visited the wrong optician? Jeez, it’s just some screws and a pair of glasses, don’t bombard me with ‘technology’ please.

FINE, I’ll just gotta do the work myself. Or get a new pair of glasses.

  1. That is hilarious! We indeed are more advanced in the science of glass-making than some modern countries….Come to think of it, how hard is it to tighten some screws?

  2. I think it’s operator error! ;)

  3. Chin, that’s exactly what I thought :P !

Dawn, I think so too, but I still can’t forget that confident expression on her face when she told me about that ‘technology’-thingy..perhaps she’s right eh ;) ?
