Grill, games and one fine day

One of the many favorite past times of the Germans when the weather is fine enough to wear T-shirts and shorts with a pair of flip-flops is grilling! Especially when mother nature presented us a sneak preview of summer last weekend, it was almost like a grill competition organized nation wide. Smells of mouthwatering grilled wursts and steaks permeated the air hinting that warmer days are finally here. BBQ birthday A few weeks ago, bf’s mom had hauled out the ancient gas grill from the garage, had it cleaned and scrubbed. Long before I noticed it, she told me the grill was ready. Such efficiency I’ve come to appreciate wholeheartedly ;) . A couple of phone calls, some exchanges of emails and sms, notices were sent out to some close-knit friends to welcome the sunny weather bestowed upon us. Board gameA friend brought along some board games and over coffee and cakes, we settled down to some serious strategy game (ahem). We got so carried away with the game that in order to outplay the other, we resorted to cajoling, sweet talking and even empty threats (yep, we are one competitive lot :D ).

I’ve seldom played board games while growing up Malaysia, perhaps mostly Monopoly or Snakes and ladder. I was rather taken by surprise when I came to know my bf’s family, that board games are rather popular in family get-together, enjoyed by old and young in Germany. I’ve started to collect some board games myself since then.

It was such a fun afternoon that I was rather sad when it came to an end.

  1. wow, you had a nice weekend with family. :)

  2. Jaina, yep, it was a good get-together with friends actually :D .

  3. It’s the same over here, too, once the temp gets up to the 50’s, we can smell the grilling.

  4. Dawn, isn’t it still a little too chilly to grill at temp around 50’s F?

  5. Hahaha, no, not for us in Minnesota where 50’s is like 60’s for us.
