No paintball in Germany (??!!)

No, I didn’t type wrongly. Yes, you read it right. Paintball will probably be banned altogether in Germany.

You might have read in the news two months ago about a 17 year old teenager who went on a gun rampage in his high school in Winnenden, Germany, killing 15 people and eventually committed suicide after a shootout with policemen.

The ill-fated incident has stunned the whole nation and caused an outspread of public outrage. I do really feel sorry for the victims and I empathize with their families. At times I was at a loss of words on what had overcome the mind of such individuals that drove them to do such unthinkable act?

The incident had ignited some serious discussions among politicians and lawmakers here on the possessions of firearms. You know, politicians everywhere are quite the same, in a way, they pass some laws just for the sake of showing the public that they are actually doing their job, regardless of whether what they did make any sense. One of the law that they take into consideration is to prohibit paintball as to quote a politician..

“This so-called game plays down violence, leading to the danger that people have fewer inhibitions about shooting each other”.

Errr…okay. You ban paintball yet people are still allowed to own firearms. Does it make any sense here? Although I haven’t played paintball before and I’m a very peace-loving person, I don’t see that this game would eventually make me wanna go on a shooting spree.

When they say politicians are hypocrites, it does ring a bell.

  1. wow, I guess before banning paintball the government should recall all possible bloodshed PlayStation or XBox games. Geee, I have no clue why they banned paintball really….

  2. Jessica, that’s exactly my sentiment too!
