I spot you!

by Yen posted May 9, 2010 category My distractions

While tending to my plants a few days ago, I saw ‘something’ hiding beneath the baby parsley. A snail is lurking amongst my precious herb garden! But according to bf’s mother, snails with coiled shells post no harm to plants.Snail in the garden! The real culprit is those snails without shells (or literally known ‘naked’ snail in German :P ). However I still find it to be a little out of place loitering around the parsley. They are sort of like a living nightmare for gardeners who wish to grow their plants as pesticide-free as possible but the presence of these culprits make organic-gardening almost impossible. A colleague of mine told me that he used to place electrical-wires on the ground surrounding its vegetable plants, with voltage high enough to kill the snails but still low enough without hurting oneself to combat snail invasion! Now that’s an idea I should consider…

  1. I am really a mountain tortoise on gardening, so normally when I saw snail of anykind in my garden, my quick reaction will be “let’s exile them to france” haha…
